BIOGRAPHY

Matt Baker is a singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist from the coast of New Jersey. He has brought his background in audio engineering as well as visual art and design to represent himself as an independent artist. Obsessed with detail, Matt strives to make his music both sonically infectious and thematically resonant. He draws from an array of musical styles with influences ranging from Jeff Buckley to Deftones to Chris Stapleton; resulting in a sound that’s classic yet contemporary.

His new album “A Road That Ends Where It Began” was written within the span of a couple months and recorded over a period of 3 weeks in Nashville, TN. “One of my biggest weaknesses over the years has been being overly analytical with my music and spending too much trying to make it ‘perfect’. This time around I purposely put a time constraint on things so that the music could be expressed naturally without sounding contrived and over-thought. With production and mixing help from my friend and peer CC Ellis, we were able to maximize my vision for this project and the result is something I’m extremely proud of.”

Matt has dedicated himself to his craft since the late 2000’s, playing in various bands and countless solo shows in the New Jersey area at venues such as The Stone Pony, Starland Ballroom, and Rockwood Music Hall in New York City. He’s hoping his newest album expands his reach and gets his music out to a larger audience.
