BIOGRAPHY

Matt Baker is a singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist from the coast of New Jersey. He has brought his background in audio engineering as well as visual art and design to represent himself as an independent artist. Obsessed with detail, Matt strives to make his music both technically impactful and sonically infectious. He draws from an array of musical styles with influences ranging from Jeff Buckley to Deftones to Explosions in the Sky; resulting in a sound that’s classic yet contemporary. With lyrics revolving around existentialism, he contemplates the relationship between our everyday human lives and the cosmos. “Music is therapy. It is meant to make you feel something that transcends words. Growing up listening to bands and artists that made me see the world differently, and helped me through some dark times. THAT is what made me want to dedicate myself to try to do the same for people.” Matt has dedicated himself to his craft since the late 2000’s, playing in various bands and countless solo shows in the New Jersey area at venues such as The Stone Pony, Starland Ballroom, and Rockwood Music Hall in New York City. His debut album, “Human Nature” is a culmination of his skills in songwriting, production and mixing, as well as artwork and design.
